Genovese Photography

About Us

Hello, and welcome to www.ChrisGenovese.com. Since starting Genovese Photography I have enjoyed being part of some special moments, and I hope to be part of yours as well. Someone asked me recently what being a photographer involved. Of course I replied with all the technical aspects of photography, and listed all the top of the line equipment that I use, and told them about the post processing work, and all the aspects of printing, and everything else I could think of at the time. This is all true. As I think about it now, however, I might have replied differently.I think that it involves the ability to imagine. I think that it involves the ability to create. It also involves a vision, and a purpose, and a passion for what you do. I have had years of formal training as an artist, and received a degree in fine art from Louisiana State University. I have studied many areas of art including painting, drawing, sculpture, design, ceramics, and photography. There are so many forms of expression in art. Artists all have something different and unique that they try to communicate in their work. Maybe it’s a stance on an issue, or a feeling about themselves, or something completely intangible that they feel. Here is what I want to communicate in my artwork; quite simply, that there is beauty in this world beyond anything that mankind can ever create or invent. However, it’s not just in the peaceful running waters of a mountain stream, or the prism of colors in a sunset that follows an afternoon shower, or the grandest of ocean views. It’s in the union between two people who are meant to be together, and the teardrop that falls from a mother’s face as she watches her daughter kiss her new husband, and the exuberance that appears on all of the guests at a reception. It’s also in the joy of being a brand new parent, and the innocence of a child at play in a park, and the natural beauty of each and every person as we truly are. So, I have found my purpose, as well as my medium. I have all of the inspiration I need from my beautiful wife and daughter. I was given a gift of vision, and creativity, and ability. All I need is the blank canvas. I am an artist. Photography is my medium. You are my canvas. This is where our journey together will begin, and it will not end until I have turned a blank canvas into a unique work of art. Thank you for providing me this opportunity.

It should also be noted that while I am ultimately responsible for starting this vision and oversee or actually produce the majority of images on this site, I also rely heavily on a small but very talented group of photographers that have helped make Genovese Photography what it is today. So a special thanks goes to my wife Bridget, and also to Nicole Colvin and Sarah Schwartz who have accompanied me to countless weddings and photo shoots and whom I've relied greatly on for their photographic abilities, post production work, album design, customer relations, and many more aspects too numerous to list.
